Question: What concept or concepts from the class that you thought was the most helpful in preparing your speeches?
From this entire semester, I think that there were many things that were very helpful in preparing for my speeches. Although, some were of more help to me than others, one thing really stands out to me for helping me better prepare for speeches. Not so much a concept that we learned from our books, but something that was implemented in our class meetings. It was the little strips of paper that we received at the end from classmate that evaluated our speech. I believe hearing input from a large group of people made my speech more effective in my next one, especially since it was from people who have seen my progression throughout the class.

Good Morning,
I agree the slips of paper were very effect feedback for our speeches. It is easy to watch somebody else give a speech on the video buddies, but it is another thing to try to implement all the tips you received. I know it always helps to have an outside opinion not just when giving speeches, but sometimes in other things, you might do as well. Having the peer feedback also helped to point out things you should have included in your speech or some things you should have left out. Critical criticism is always helpful, so long as it is not meant to hurt the person.
Wow, I'm glad the feedback was useful to you. Were there concepts from the book that you thought did not need to be covered? Was there any that stood out to you that you couldn't live without in this course?
When I posted for this question, I did not even think about the little evaluation slips. Now that you mention them, I believe that they were very helpful in preparing for the next speech. They were so effective because they came from a bunch of people as well as they were students too so if they caught the issues and good points then they were pretty apparent. I would always read through all of the cards, especially the improvements section. When I saw a few things pop up on almost all of the slips, I made a point to try to work on it for the next speech.
Hi,
I agree that those slips of paper of our peers evaluating our speeches really helped. I think that since they were anonymous, people were really honest about what they actually thought we needed to improve on and what we did well. I know that for my speeches it helped me improve a lot just by reading what a lot of people had to say. I could tell that they meant what they said because a lot of people told me to work on the same things and when I watched my video, I realized that I did need to improve on those certain things.
